Poor experience

Great smokers, terrible char grill, and terrible customer service!!!  The chargrill is really a piece of crap and they weren't willing to speak to me about my issues.  When I commented on one of  their posts about this they blocked me from commenting on their facebook posts.(it wasn't rude or vulgar, same as what I posted here).  If you purchase a large expensive smoker from them they are glad to help you, but don't expect much from them if buy a 48 or 36.  I have heard the same complaint from other buyers of smaller units.  Also when I drove 6 hours to pick it up they couldn't find it, and I had to wait an hour for the owners son to finish playing golf to come find it.  It was on accidentally on the truck to be delivered 13 hours away!  If I had made one extra stop on the way, it would have been gone!!!

It seems to only have one temp control.  That is how much fuel you add.  Put a little charcoal for lower temps and put a ton of charcoal for higher temps.  It has no damper on the stack to regulate temp.  I may try to fashion something on it as a test.  As it is now, if you were cooking vegetables or potatoes at say 350 degrees then wanted to add steaks at the end and raise the temp to 500 degrees I would have to remove the grates and add more charcoal.  BTW if you do cook baked potatoes or anything else that may take an hour or more, you have to replenish the fuel anyway because it is running at max heat no matter what temp you have it at.  
The charcoal burns out quickly unlike a green egg or something that can run all night on one load of charcoal.  Charcoal isn't cheap and neither is the grill.

I have only had my 36 hybrid deluxe for 3 weeks now and I have not put too much attention to the chargrill. When I made the decision to purchase the cooker I did not really have the expiation it would be anything like a green egg just a charcoal grill to cook hot and fast on. This weekend I will experiment with it by making a charcoal basket and try to fabricate some kind of damper for the stack. Your right it would have helped if Lang installed a damper as standard equipment. I will report out my finding next week.
