How to store a cooked butt for 6hrs before a party?

Hi everyone,
My name is Bob and I am new to the blog.
My 36 inch baby Lang was delivered on Tuesday.  I “seasoned” the smoker per Ben’s video Tuesday night.   I check the smoker early Wednesday morning.
The inside of the smoker shined and glistened like a new car.   I thought that it looked so nice it will be a shame to cook anything in it.
Although I’m not new to smoking I need some advice.  Saturday we have a neighborhood party and I promised to bring a butt as a dish to pass.

This will be my very first meal on a Lang.  I usually try to time the finish of the cooking to coincide with the start of the party.

My high school wrestling/football coach is coming to the party on Saturday.   I  want to visit with my coach  and not spend 5-7hrs babysitting a butt.   I thought I would get up at 4am and start cooking the butt.   The butt should be finished cooking around 11am ( the arrival time of my coach ).  The neighborhood party will not start until 5pm.
HOW SHOULD I STORE THE BUTT UNTIL 5PM?
My butts are usually totally consumed within 45 minutes after I deliver it to our clubhouse.
1. Should I keep the butt  whole and refrigerate it.   My neighbors like the butt sliced instead of pulled.  Should I slice it at the party then reheat?
2. Should I take it off the grill – let it rest- then slice it and refrigerate it?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

As soon as you take it off the smoker, wrap it up in heavy duty foil three or four times and wrap the foil in old bath towels and put it in a cooler. You should be good to go! Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question.  I took the butt off the grill sprayed it with apple juice and poured some apple juice inside the foil and wrapped it tight in foil.    I placed the butt in a heavy duty insulated plastic lunch box cooler.  I packed the empty space inside the cooler with solid layers of newspaper.

I took the butt off the grill at 10:30am.  At 5:30pm the butt was still warm.  I sliced the butt and placed it in a sealed glass container and poured the juice from the foil onto the sliced pork.  I placed it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and served it to my neighbors.  EVERYONE LOVE IT !!
Thanks again for your help.

glad to hear it worked for ya!

here's a tip, though...after you foil the butt, stick a maet thermometer right through the foil, and check it after 2 or 3 hours....if the meat's getting cool, throw it back on some heat for a little while, without unwrapping it.

it should never fall below 140f while holding!
