Baked potatos

Can you bake a potato in the deluxe warmer box?
Tbone

I usually microwave for a little bit... Just to soften them up a little.
Then  I score em, dust em with granulated garlic,a pad of butter, then
Foil em. Bacon, sour cream and some chives when their done.

I do baked potatoes and a lot of corn on the cob in mine

yeah I know Paul...more referring to those that don't have the special damper installed on the firebox like you did.

I have the 36hybrid delux & i would say no, because if u r running your pit between 250 or 275 then your warmer box is holding steady at about 150-170 hope this helps!!!!!!!
DBA1954

you could probably do them wrapped in foil in the pit .... pushed to the far right so that they are over the fire box ... difficult to time how long.... although what would the temperature be on the bottom of the warmer?
Tbone

On top of the firebox? They'd get scorched.
You could do'em in the pit, but it would take awhile....
DBA1954

can the baffle be removed? would still be pretty hot in there ....
Tbone

With the vent that animal has, you could get some real good heat in there. Without it,it's just a warmer. Maybe cheese and jerkey, but to full on cook?,it would take forever...
DBA1954

so a question, from the pictures on line it looks like you can remove the 'baffle' and/or move it (bottom ~shelf) . Can it be removed and if so would that increase the temperature in the warmer box above?
Tbone

No it's welded in. Probably would be warmer with out it though
Those vents that animal has should be standard....

As of now it's a $150 extra but I think it's well worth it. I'll find out in 2 weeks when I go to get mine. I think it really opens up the options of using the warmer box.

Between the cost $150 for the damper on the firebox and the $500 cost of the warmer box, I think I've been talked out of it for the benefits.  If I ever need to keep anything warm, can always have a spare weber handy or place   a rack on top of  the firebox and put the metal trays on top.
Tbone

Absolutely worth it! Especially on a smaller pit
The warmer is a nice thing to have but in my opinion,if you get the warmer,ya gotta get the dampers....

My intent was to buy once and have no regrets except for maybe having gone bigger,  I asked Ben what options were available and ordered the vents as well, years later I still am happy and wouldn't change anything, I can run my warmer way hotter than the cooking chamber if I want to or use it to smoke as well as the main chamber or just hold food.

I think I'm going to have them weld angle on top  and add a drop in rack for the top of the firebox instead.I think that will serve me better.
Tbone

That's what it's all about, whatever works for you.
Still, the star of the show will always be that smoking chamber.
With a little bit of practice, the pit will pump out some scrumptious eats!!!
