Any Lang Smokers in Texas

Hello,

My first time here...getting a 36 hybrid smoker delivered late this week.

I realize that there are many good smokers made here in Texas but opted for a Lang, after doing a lot of reading here and beyond.

I've been smoking meats in the hot sun for years on Char grillers,  assorted barrel drum smokers,  etc. but after this last one rusted thru I needed a better option.

I was wondering if there were any fellow Texans here.?
Also,  was wondering if there were any 36 hybrid owners here?

Finally, I was wondering  how long does it take to get this baby broke in after getting seasoned?    I BBQ about twice a week.

A big hello to all those in Georgia,  as I have lived there a short while and have relatives there still.

Thanks!

Watch Ben's video on this site on seasoning your new smoker,it covers pretty much everything on break in.As far as other smokers in Texas, google BBQ Forums. This will give a lot of other sits including at least one Texas site.If memory serves me right Texas Monthly magazine has a BBQ Smoker section. I could be wrong on that though.Almost forget, before you season the smoker.Take a putty knife and go over the inside the cook chamber and find all the welding splatter. About any kind of grinder will work. This will make cleaning at a later date much easier. You'll Love the Lang.

Lang is building my 36 Hybrid right now.

I'm in NW Houston Area.  Haven't received a shipping call yet, but was supposed to be finished this week.

What part of Texas are you in?

Called today and mine will be delivered next Wednesday on a shipment with multiple Smokers heading out further West.  Can't wait!  Will post pics once it's delivered in the Picture Forum.

Thank you Cats49er

That is a great tip about using a putty knife to get the excess material off.

I have watched the videos on seasoning.

The big question for me is whether or not to use Pam cooking spray all over everything while getting it seasoned.  Some comments suggest that it may get things greasy with all that gunk.

I had forgotten about Texas Monthly's BBQ Smoker section.

Thank you for your response.

My 36 hybrid is being loaded up today.  I understand that Wallace is suppose to be heading out this way (Austin) tomorrow and may be here for delivery on Saturday.  This is the latest I got from the shipping desk.  Just waiting on the call.

I have a big event next week and just need a couple days to burn it off etc.

Can't wait...   Thanks for you note TexasBBQTester.

There are 10 well known BBQ places near me that I frequent now and then but I still like to do my own.  I am sure it is the same for you there in the Houston area.

Hi! Austin TX Lang 60 Longneck w/Chargrill here! I've had it for almost a year and it is as still as pretty and efficient as it was the first day I got it. Best purchase I've ever made. I'm almost ready to get into competition BBQ and I'm starting to look for a toy hauler that can contain this monster!!

I bet your 60 Longneck can put out some food!  Even though it is 100+ out, I am still cookin'.

No, not yet.  Lang was having shipping issues this week.  I took off this week expecting it, but got a lot done around the house and everything ready to fire it up.  Even organized my firewood - rotated it and got the most seasoned wood sorted, etc...  I've got 2 year old Oak and Pecan, then lots of Oak from a year ago that's already seasoned too.  I run an Ad in Craigslist that I'll come cut and haul off Oak and Pecan trees that have fallen for free.  Haven't "paid" for seasoned wood in years which is great!

It's supposed to be here tomorrow morning.  It left Lang around 12 noon today.  Said he should be here by 12 noon tomorrow.  I'll post pics of mine as well.  Was going to do a "Seasoning" Video to post on YouTube, but there are several out there already.  Will still post pics in the Picture Forum.

It arrived today!

Wallace who delivers the Lang Smokers was awesome!  You could tell he had unloaded a few before!

Had it in the back of a Pickup Truck and when he pulled up I was thinking - how the heck are we going to get that 900lb Smoker out of the Truck Bed.  No worries - he had an ATV Ramp and it was off the Truck with no problems in about 15 seconds!!

Posting lots of Pics in the Picture Forum.  Thanks!

I'm in West Texas, and just received my 36 hybrid patio deluxe about 2 weeks ago.
