Any advantage to 2 doors on a 36" stretch

Anyone have any thoughts on whether 2 doors on a 36" stretch would be of any advantage? Thanks
Eddie Z

Side by side or opposite sides?
Raineman

Side by side thinking about a split door

Advantage lighter doors and only opening part of the pit when tending meat. Disadvantage more place to leak from and there would be a slat in the center of the pit for the doors to latch.

I was thinking the same. Went with the 2 doors anyway. Not going to be done till October and can't wait. Ordered up some more oak and pecan to shore up my wood pile. I will be ready.

I saw you said oak and pine. Don't cook with pine.
Raineman

LOL. Sorry. My typo. I edited it. Oak and Pecan. Don't know how I typed that.

6 weeks out until mine is done based on the 8 week wait time. The wait is excruciating, but well worth it. I am already planning the first and second cook.

Confused

I will be cooking a 14 lbs brisket packer this weekend on my 36 hybrid. It is worth the wait! Very Happy

Talked to Sara last week and she said they are down to 6 week turn times, if that holds, I am 3 weeks out for mine to be done!  Laughing  Razz  Very Happy

Hey Raineman are you located in the Phoenix area? If so where are you getting your wood from?
Raineman

I get my wood from Berry Brothers. They deliver or you can pick it up. http://www.bbfw.com/

By the way, yes, I am in Gilbert. How about yourself? Out of curiosity, when you got your Lang, how long did you wait between completion and delivery? Did you ship through Lang?

Thanks

I live in south Gilbert. I ordered it April 1st and received it June 4th. I used Lang for shipping and they ended up using Clear Lane shipping and cost me $600 to my door.

i got my lang 36 stretch back in may after a 10 week waiting period.  I would not get two doors personally.  No need for it   limits the access to place the meat on the racks and view of the meat not a whole lot of room as is.   I am not sure how it would work with the top rack and wanting to remove it.  Also,  The height between the bottom and top racks really isn't that high.  Tight fit to get  pork but between the racks.

If i got anything else, i would get probe ports cut out to run cables, as well with the stretch, i would maybe get a little bigger fire box, maybe 18x18 or even 20x20.  it get plenty hot enough, but take a bit to get hot. just from personal experience. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I have some pics to share if you are interested.

Thank you for info. I still have time to cancel the double doors. I may now based on what you said. I did not realize is was that tight inside between the racks.

I thought the 36" Stretch had an 18x18 firebox? Is it 17x17?

Thanks
