Almond and Walnut

Has anyone out there used Almond or walnut in their Lang smoker.  These seem to be some of the easier woods to find in California other then Oak.

Here is a Link to a very good all around reference, pages 37 and 38 are about wood, Almond is good with anything and Walnut is strong and should be mixed with other woods

any tree that bears nuts or fruit will work well, if you have a Lang the key is cheap or free, In Wisconsin I can get Oak Apple and Cherry.

I sure would like to get some of that Apple and Cherry.  Can you give up your source?

No secrets here, I buy my oak for by the full cord, cut split and delivered for about $80. I have friends that have to manage their land for tax purposes. The apple and cherry pretty much fall into my lap for free every time a tree falls down, folks trim and remove trees, and I have a lot of friends and one of the few Langs held captive in Wisconsin. It works for me. Wood for me is cheaper than the charcoal I use every year.
