Post Post subject: Cooking on a 36 Patio  Reply with quote

For those of you who have the 36" Patio (or other manifestations i guess), is it possible to fit Pork butts on the top shelf and get the door closed?  Brisket?

I know the site says 4 10# butts, but it seems like those could fit on the bottom.  I'm wondering if there is not much room on the top rack?   Is the space better on the 48?

Thanks

I have a 48"patio deluxe. I cook my brisket separated and 2 butts on the top shelf. Could easily fit more if I wanted to pack it it

You should be able to put at least 2 butts on the top shelf with no problem and maybe more if you pack them in a little tighter.  I would think you should be able to get 3 or 4 on the bottom rack but you would have to rotate them every so often due to the hot spot on the right side near the wood burning box.

I have seen a photo of as many as 5 on the bottom rack, but yes, I would have to rotate.  The guy who posted that seemed to be of the opinion that the butts on the top rack were too tall and would touch the top of the door.

That is what sparked the question.

I think there is plenty of room between the top rack and the top of the smoke chamber, I don't think you would have a problem with a butt touching anything.
